Fredi and her Lily Pad go to Portugal. Fredi is Fredrika, a lively saxophone playing frog and band leader.

In this second book, Fredi and her Lily Pad Band go on a world tour and the first stop is Portugal. As the adventure begins, Fredi's Fabulous Flying Machine crashes into rocks as it comes to shore, and the band’s instruments wind up in the harbor. The band goes on a local journey to find cork to repair the instruments. During the journey, the band comes across characters that guide them to the Whistler Tree. The birds of the tree tweet a rap of how to harvest the cork of the oak tree. The instruments are saved in time for the beach party where the Lily Pad Band performs. The book includes a word search and crossword puzzle.

The book can be used in the classroom with social studies, science and music. As a bonus, lesson plans are included for a teacher’s resource as well as directions to dance The Twist.

Fredi, a sax-playing frog, finds that she has a broken reed on her instrument’s mouthpiece. One by one, she seeks out her band members to learn how sound and vibration work in each of their instruments.

The book prominently features multicultural community, friendship, and music. This interdisciplinary book can be used in subjects as in science, social studies and reading.

At the end of the book, readers will find instruction for dancing the Cha Cha, as well as crossword puzzle and word finder games.

The accompanying activity book called "Connecting the Dots with Fredi” is also available.

The book is geared for children from 5-8 years old.

Connecting the Dots with Fredi was created as an activity book to accompany The Adventures of Fredi and her Lily Pad Band

This book allows students to connect the featured instruments from the book The Adventures of Fredi and Her Lily Pad Band and the flags of their home nations.

It can be implemented into history, geography or English Language Arts classes where students can actively do small break out groups where they discuss the flags, the historical content of each country. Encourage your class to present their shared outcome as a group. This would make an excellent 7-13 minute group activity. At the end of each activity, readers are challenged to match the friend’s face with an instrument or flag.
